Simple Homemade Turkey Chili

One of my bucket list items for this Fall was to make homemade chili ๐Ÿ˜‹ I wanted to make a healthy version so I opted for a weight watchers recipe that I found. I changed the recipe up to suit me and will share it below along with a link to the original recipe. On certain weight watchers plans this meal is zero points.

This recipe makes a large batch that fed myself and my husband for a few days. I used nonfat plain greek yogurt as a substitute to sour cream. My family also likes to use as many low sodium canned items that we can. Another low sodium option is to make your own taco seasoning.

Simple Homemade Turkey Chili

A hearty, healthy homemade turkey chilli.



Ingredients

1 lb 99% fat free ground turkey
1 onion diced
1 bell pepper of any color diced
1 can kidney beans drained, 15 oz
1 can black beans drained, 15 oz
1 can fire roasted or plain diced tomatoes
1 can mild tomatoes with green chilies, 8 oz
1 can tomato sauce 8 oz
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 pkg taco seasoning
1 can low sodium or no sodium corn drained, 15 oz

Directions

  1. Cook the ground turkey along with the onion and green pepper in a large pot.
  2. Add taco seasoning and garlic and stir until the meat is fully coated.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir.
  4. Cook over medium heat, letting simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until chili is warm.
  5. Top with a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt and cilantro

      Instead of using ground beef or some people may call it minced beef. Instead of beef its turkey.

      I should probably remove the term breast. Its just grounded turkey. Sorry for the confusion.
