Hello 👋 and welcome to my blog. Yes, you read that title correctly Blogging without social media. Does this sound crazy to you? It sounds lovely to me!
Back in September I decided I had enough and took a break from social media. It was effecting my mental health and I knew I had to make a change. So I deleted all the apps except for Pinterest. I never thought I would be away so long but honestly I don’t want to go back. I already cheated a few times by hoping on Instagram. The minute I do that I get sucked back into a whirlwind of selfies and self promoting. Not that there is anything wrong with that but it doesn’t jive with me.
So since the end of September I have been blogging and not promoting my post on any platforms except Pinterest. And guess what? Nothing has changed. I decided to take a look at my analytics and I have more views now than when I was promoting myself on social media.

So what does this mean for me? I plan to keep chugging away at blogging and avoid social media. It has been such a relief not mindlessly scrolling and wasting precious time. You may even notice a change on my blog. No more social media links. I decided to remove the imbedded instagram and remove my social media links. So you should not find social media links on the blog. If you do, let me know so I can delete them.
What do you think about blogging without social media? Would you ever do it or maybe you already do? Do you think social media is required for blog growth? Let’s chat in the comment section.

I. Love. This.!!!! I have really reached a breaking point with IG. I feel like I’m just willingly and constantly scrolling through advertisements under the guise of it being something else. People are either posting things they bought which they too want you to buy, classes they are offering, or something they sell. Or, they are telling me what I’m doing wrong with my business, my finances, my home, or my body. It’s all so overwhelming and really not why I want to be there! Love this post!

This 💯 is why I stepped away. Its all an advertisement and people trying to keep up. I don’t need that in my life. I want my life simple and enjoyable. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you will decide to maybe a take a social media break 😊

Already doing it! Not 100% but definitely very scaled back maybe to 10% of before. I don’t even log into my personal account anymore, just my blog and business IG’s.

Hi Rebekah its an interesting post. I promote my blog in all social media apps and I get traffic from Facebook only and hardly I get from Instagram. I know when I promote my blog on social media that I am not going to get much traffic but I just feel to share on my Facebook page which I made for my blog and also Instagram. I don’t expect much from social media but I feel that may be people who are interested should know about my new posts. Though blogging is my hobby I just take it seriously because it has become my identity.

I think social media is a great way to promote and can be very helpful. I just find it toxic for myself so I avoid it. I love the small community I have through my blog.

Yea I agree with you it’s not important for everyone to be on social media. Promoting blog on social media is not for everyone. They can choose to stay away from it. I appreciate your efforts Rebekah 👍

I couldn’t agree more! I never used social media and was hesitant to start a blog for that reason. But took the plunge anyways about 9 months ago and it’s progressing beautifully!!

I am so glad you decided to start blogging. I think social media is a good tool but very toxic.

I love this. I haven’t been doing a ton of social media promotion either. I have them connected to share automatically when I post and that’s it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I totally agree. I used to have IG for my blog but left because it was just too much of an energy drain. I currently get the majority of my blog traffic from search engines and a little bit from Pinterest(although I’m pretty slack on that.) I also have a small email list. I think SEO is the way to go!

Ubersuggest is a great resource to use for SEO. Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler that offers a free trial. I’d recommend checking out those. 🙂
