Weekend In The Mountains| Weekend Recap

Nothing beats a weekend in the mountains. The fresh air, nature, animals and the calmness is so relaxing and recharging. My husband and I are blessed that his parents have a home in the mountains. We use to go up more often but have not visited in over three years. I am not sure how time has gone by so fast but it has. So here is a recap of how we spent our weekend and a lot of photos.

I was off work on Friday which worked out perfectly. I was able to pack and get everything ready for when my husband came home. When he came home we packed up the car and left. It was about 1.5 hour drive for us and there was traffic. It is always nice to get to the mountains early because it gives us time to unpack and get settled. The mountain house is situated in a development. The houses are spread out and it is all wooded. First thing I noticed driving through the development was the large amount of deer and baby deer. So stinking adorable. They roam around everywhere and it is lovely. We took Millie for a nice walk then headed out to dinner. Side note: I am on weight watchers but did not count any points or even try to eat healthy this entire weekend. Dinner was at a local restaurant called Woody’s Country House Restaurant. After dinner we went back to the house. While taking Millie out to the bathroom I saw the butt of a bear walk in front of my car and behind the house. It scared the crap out of me and I ran my butt back into the house faster then I have ever moved. I know there are bears in the mountains but I have never actually seen one before. I wish I could have gotten a photo but it happened so fast.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early. We grabbed breakfast and had coffee and then we were off onto a new adventure. We went to Hickory Run State Park and checked out Boulder Field. We also checked out a trail and took Millie along for all the fun. Millie spent most of her time chasing leaves and eating grass.

After spending some time at Hickory Run we decided to drive over to Austin T. Blakeslee Natural Area and it was the best decision. I have been to this area previously but it has been years and we did not walk any paths. It was absolutely gorgeous and such an easy walk. When we first got there my husband started talking with a man and he told us that the trail took you out to a waterfall. So off we went and it was so worth every second. It was an easy walk and was very easy for Millie. When we got to the water it was beautiful and clear. Millie got into the water and swam for the first time! It was a proud dog mom moment and one I will always remember. She loved it!!! It was so exciting seeing her swim in the water. Right near the water fall the rock was carved out and looks like a sitting area. It was perfection!

After spending the day out we headed back to the house and we all ended up taking naps. Millie was exhausted the rest of the day. Later in the day my husband and I headed to Tannersville outlets. Years ago when we would visit we would always go to the outlets and get candy apples and chocolate pretzels. The place we would visit is no longer there but they now have another candy store. So we went and got a M&M apple, chocolate pretzels and chocolate covered rice krispie treats. While there we walked by a Kate Spade outlet store and of course I had to go in. I picked up a passport holder that I have been eyeing for a long time. So happy they had one because I could not find it anywhere.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching movies. We had full intentions of eating healthy and cooking dinner but ended up ordering pizza and drinking wine. I was honestly exhausted after the day so we just hung around and relaxed.

We got up bright and early and got ready to head out. I saw this cute little snail crawling up the house. We grabbed some coffee to go and enjoyed the beautiful ride back home. The rest of Sunday was filled with napping, grocery shopping and getting ready for the week.

Hope you had an amazing weekend.
