Strategies to overcome fear & What I am afraid of//Day 6

Fear can hold you back in life. What is it that you are afraid of!? Overcoming your fears is an essential step if you want to achieve your goals and dreams. Today I am going to share some steps to overcome your fears.

Fear is a powerful emotion and can take hold of your body and effect your mind. Please note if you have a fear that is controlling your life and causing a strain on you please seek professional help. I am not a therapist and these strategies are not for everyone.

Take a time out
You can not think properly when you are riddled with anxiety. So take some deep breaths and go for walk, call a friend, read a book. Do something to give your mind a break. No need to make any quick decisions. Make sure you take some time for yourself and self reflect on what is causing the fear.

Understand your fear
Avoiding fears only make them worse. Whatever you are afraid of, you need to face it. If you are unsure what is causing the fear then take some time and reflect on when it happens. Keep a journal and log anytime you start to feel anxious, afraid or things feel out of your control. When you get to the point when you know what it is, say it out loud or write it down.

Imagine the worst thing that can happen
Try to think about the worst thing that can happen if you fear comes true. Then think about the realities of that happening. What are the actual chances that the worst thing you can imagine will actually happen? Chances are that they are pretty slim to impossible. If you need to, do some research and look up statistics on your fear.

Talk about it
Sometimes you will need to share your fears with someone else. Talking can be helpful. If you do not have a partner or friend then reach out and seek professional help. There is nothing wrong with seeking help from someone.

Become aware of your thoughts
Our thoughts can produce emotions. So to change your emotions change your thoughts. Whenever your fear starts to take control. Stop what you are doing and retrace your thoughts.

Utilize positive affirmations
Affirmations are powerful statements that you repeat to yourself to positively effect the mind. Use them to increase awareness and support your connection to yourself.

Focus on the positive
Try to purposely focus on the positive things in your life. The sun shining down, beautiful flowers in spring, the laugh of children, the love of a partner. Try to shift your focus and change your mindset.

Are you able to say what you are afraid of? I am afraid of being alone and this ties into my self esteem and self confidence. So to work on this I try to have quality time with myself and go out and do things solo. It can be hard for me but this is my fear and something I am working on.
